We wanted to create a blog to let you all know how our orchard is progressing…from spring to summer to fall to winter.  Things may get a little chaotic and I might just happen to get a little behind, but I’ll do the best that I can.

Dave grew up on a farm.  His dad had pigs and later ducks.  He planted and orchard out back so that he could have something to do during his “free time” when he retired.  It turns out that his sons picked the fruit business and not the pig/duck business.   We recently moved off the home farm, leaving it in  the very capable hands of Dave’s older brother, and started a new orchard.  It is exciting and scary all bundled together.  Our orchard is a very small one.  We have enough trees to supply two farmers’ markets and to keep our family fed.  We have two sons, ages 3.5 and 1.5.  There will hardly be a post that you don’t see them running around in the orchard or in the greenhouse.  If there are any parts of the farm that you would like to see, let me know, and I would love to do a post on it.

Our current markets are in Philadelphia: Rittenhouse Square Market: Tuesdays and Saturdays and Clark Park Market on Saturdays.
